Press Conference to Announce Major Donation from SEIU Workers Nationwide for Janitors on Strike at The University of Miami Scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the Strike Sanctuary
MIAMI, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Janitors heading into the third week of a strike at the University of Miami will receive a significant donation to their Strike Fund from the 1.8 million members of the Service Employees International Union. Janitors at the Medical School and the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami are on strike over un fair labor practices committed against them by UNICCO services.
Strike funds allow workers, particular those who already live on the razor edge of poverty, financial assistance. SEIU Local 11 established a Strike Fund Last week. Already, dozens of students, faculty members, community supporters, and labor unions, have donated to the fund. Checks to the fund should be made out to:
