teach-out in front of Ashe

Today members of the faculty decided to express their support of the striking UNICCO workers by holding a teach-out in front of, around and behind the Ashe building, well in sight of the administration. The teach-out was enormously successful. At least 25 classes were taught there, and it was truly beautiful to see the lovely lawns in front of Ashe dotted with classes and signs.

Please keep it up in the upcoming days!

Here are some pictures:

How in the hell does sitting around like you're playing duck, duck, goose in any way bolster the fortunes of the people you claim to be helping?

You want to impress somebody, try doing your damn jobs!

Dear Anonymous,

I thought we were doing our job.

Anonymous asks how sitting around... bolsters the fortunes of the people we claim to be helping. It bolsters them by showing the administration of the university how deep the support for the workers runs. This, in turn, will lead to action being taken on their behalf by those who are in a position to do so.

Dear Anonymous -

Your comment suggests that learning is ineffective unless done in a square formation. Although even then you could play duck duck goose around it . . . it must be a filled-in square to truly allow students to learn. And don't you know duck duck goose can be played indoors or out, and whether or not one learns from it depends on one's duck duck goose partners one's own behavior and willingness to learn, either as a duck or a goose?

In conclusion, your comment is even sillier than mine, and appears to be motivated by some kind of inscrutable outrage rather than thought. In the immortal words of my lovely friend Emily, "take a chill pill dude." This is uncalled for.
